Marc Schonbrun
A guitarist, teacher, technologist, and writer.

I've played guitar most of my life and written more than a dozen books about music, mostly out of a habit of wanting to explain how things work. Somewhere along the way I also spent nearly twenty years building software, which is still what I do. And a few years ago I started spending real time outdoors, which I never used to do, and these days that's become a big part of me.
What I spend my time on
My focus
- Music A soundtrack always running in my head, usually me. A weekly classical ensemble, jazz when I can, piano now. →
- Teaching The thread through all of it: students, the books, mentoring at work. Helping someone see how a thing really works. →
- Writing More than a dozen books on guitar, theory, and recording. A third edition of The Efficient Guitarist, Volume II on the way. →
- Technology Nearly twenty years building software. Lately most of my time goes to AI, and how it's letting far more people build the things they imagine. →
I don't really know what's next, but I know what the pieces are, and mostly I'm just trying to enjoy it.
